The Edison State Scholarship Application is your ticket to applying for any of the following campus-based scholarships. The 2023–2024 Edison State Scholarship Application will be available beginning November 1, 2022 and the deadline for submission is March 1, 2023.
Adult Learner Scholarship
The Adult Learner Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to adult learners. Applicants must be at least 25 years old. Current or returning students must have completed the 2022–2023 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. For students enrolled in 1 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. For students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours—scholarship award is $1,000.
Mary Rebecca Allen Memorial Scholarship
The Mary Rebecca Allen Memorial Scholarship is a lasting tribute established by her son, Thomas Allen. She was a Trustee of Edison State Community College. Any full-time student may apply.
Greg and Alissa Blankenship Scholarship
Full-time students majoring in Engineering Technology, Industrial Management or Fine Arts. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen.
Sheryl Brinley Memorial Scholarship
The Sheryl Brinley Memorial Scholarship was established by members of the Business and Professional Women's Association located in Darke County. Sheryl's commitment to the club and its philosophy inspired them to establish a scholarship in her memory for a female adult student from Darke County studying business.
Darke County Scholarship
This scholarship is designed for Darke County residents. Preference is given to those taking classes at the Edison State at Greenville location.
John J. Dugan Memorial Scholarship
The John J. Dugan Memorial Scholarship, established in 2004 by his wife, Jean, memorializes Miami County Commissioner John J. Dugan. This scholarship is awarded annually to full-time Miami County students majoring in history, political science, government or pre-law.
Edison State "Illuminate the Future" Employee Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by Edison State Community College employees who desire to make a difference in the lives of students attending the College each year. Awards are given to both full-time and part-time students.
Edison State "Illuminate the Future" Community Scholarship
Based on the generous donations from our area businesses, organizations and individuals, the Edison State Foundation awards this scholarship to both full-time and part-time students who demonstrate academic achievement.
The Edison Foundation Scholarship
The Edison Foundation Scholarship is awarded to full-time or part-time students.
The Edison Foundation/James P. Humphrey Sidney-Shelby County Black Achievers Supplemental Scholarship

Edison State Diversity Scholarship
The College awards a full-tuition scholarship to an African-American, Asian, Hispanic or Native American student. Applicant must be a student with a record of scholastic achievement.
GED Scholarship
Applicant must be a resident of Darke, Miami or Shelby County and have successfully completed the ASPIRE Program (formerly the ABLE Program) through the Upper Valley Career Center in Piqua, Ohio.
Holly Hahn Memorial Scholarship
The Holly Hahn Memorial Scholarship was made possible by the gifts of family, friends and former students. The scholarship celebrates her life of dedication to helping students succeed, particularly those for whom English is a second language.
D. Douglas King Memorial Scholarship
The D. Douglas King Memorial Scholarship was established by his mother, Marjorie L. King, a long-time resident of Darke County, Ohio. Marjorie King established this trust upon her death to provide full tuition to graduates of Ansonia High School.
Ray and Bettye Laughlin Scholarship
The Ray and Bettye Laughlin Scholarship is available to full- or part-time students who are residents of Darke County. Donor has the option of designating an eligible program of study on a yearly basis.
William M. McCulloch Memorial Scholarship
The William M. McCulloch Memorial Scholarship was established by his family in honor of his notable contributions to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and to his belief in the importance of education for the betterment of all.
Miami County FOP Memorial Scholarship
The Miami County F.O.P. Memorial Scholarship was established to honor members of the Miami County Fraternal Order of Police for youth in Miami County interested in the criminal justice field.
Miami County Republican Women's Scholarship
For a female student from Miami County with preference given to those majoring in political science, law or government.
Miami County Voiture 40 et 8 Scholarship
The Miami County Voiture 420, Forty et Eight Society of the American Legion, awards this scholarship to a second-year nursing student. Applicants must be residents of Miami County taking a minimum of 12 credit hours. Selection is based on financial need and scholastic achievement.
Myers-Vaccaro Engineering Scholarship
The Myers-Vaccaro Scholarship in Engineering is given by two dedicated Edison State faculty members in loving memory of their fathers, Clarence H. Myers, a civil engineer and Charles A. Vaccaro, an electrical engineer.
Kathy Oda Memorial Scholarship
The Kathy Oda Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a female student who has been out of the workforce and is a resident of Piqua, Ohio.
Opportunity Scholarship
The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to students who have little to no eligibility for any other type of financial aid or tuition assistance. Applicants must have completed the 2022–2023 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork and have been determined ineligible for a Pell Grant. Students may not have any other third-party funding, scholarship or waivers. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State and be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per semester. If applicant has previous student loans that are in default, they must provide documentation from loaner servicer that they have entered into a loan rehab program; i.e., paying six months of regular payments to clear the default. Amount of scholarship award is based upon number of credit hours taken. For students enrolled in 6 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. For students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours—scholarship award is $1,000.
William Hart Pitsenbarger Memorial Scholarship
William Hart Pitsenbarger, a Piqua native who received the Air Force Cross for saving the lives of numerous comrades in Vietnam, was killed during his last rescue mission. His parents, Frank and Irene Pitsenbarger, established this scholarship to "realize his dream of completing a college education."
Preble County Youth Foundation
The Preble County Youth Foundation Scholarship is awarded to full- or part-time students who are residents of Preble County. This scholarship is for students who will be attending Edison State in any program of study.
President's Scholarship
Edison State awards the President's Scholarship to a full-time student who is beginning his/her studies at Edison State Community College. This scholarship is based upon academic achievement.
Charles E. Ridenour Memorial Scholarship
The Charles E. Ridenour Memorial Scholarship was established by his sister, Eileen Leasure. Mr. Ridenour was a teacher of welding and enjoyed his previous interaction with Edison State students. She wanted to have that spirit of learning to continue after his death.
Thomas and Patricia Robinson Scholarship
Full-time or part-time students taking a minimum of six (6) credit hours.
Thomas Alva Edison Scholarship
Applicants for the Thomas Alva Edison Scholarship must be students in the top 15 percent or one of the top ten seniors in their graduating class. Selection is based upon academic achievement. Upon successful completion of the first year with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, the recipient(s) may qualify for a renewal scholarship.
Tri-County Trust Scholarship
Through the leadership of G. W. Hartzell, the Tri-County Education Trust was established at the same time as the College in 1973. The initial fundraising effort in area communities created a capital fund, which has been the basis of scholarships and grant-in-aid awards since 1976.
Trustee's Scholarship
Edison State awards the Trustee's Scholarship to a student who is beginning his/her studies at Edison State Community College. This scholarship is based upon academic achievement.
Summer Advantage Scholarship
The Summer Advantage Scholarship provides a $250 or $500 scholarship to students enrolled in summer courses. Students must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. Scholarship may be applied toward tuition and fees only. Students receiving any Edison State tuition waivers are not eligible to apply. The amount of scholarship awarded is based on the number of credit hours enrolled in during the Summer semester. Three (3) credit hour enrollment is eligible for a $250 award. Six (6) credit hour enrollment is eligible for $500.
Samuel E. Valandingham Memorial Scholarship
The Samuel E. Valandingham Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of this Piqua High School graduate with an interest in architectural drawing.
Kenneth A. Yowell Emeritus Scholarship
The Kenneth A. Yowell Emeritus Scholarship is awarded to a full-time, first-generation student from Darke, Miami or Shelby County. Student should be in a a degree-seeking program. Award is post-financial Aid assistance and can be used for tuition, fees and books.
