If you need further information or are unsure where to begin, please review the information regarding the type of aid for which you are applying. As soon as new documents are available they will be posted here. DO NOT submit documents unless you are fully aware of what it is you are completing! Not all students want to apply for all forms of aid.

    IMPORTANT  These documents are to be used for the 2019–2020 Financial Aid year ONLY. This includes Summer 2019 | Fall 2019 | Spring 2020 semesters.

  • The Edison State Scholarship Application is your ticket to applying for any of the following campus-based scholarships. The 2019–2020 Edison State Scholarship Application period has now closed. The 2020–2021 Edison State Scholarship Application will be available November 1, 2019. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2020.

    The following scholarships are available with the submission of separate and unique applications. Please see directions associated with each scholarship.


    Choose Ohio First Tech-Prep Scholarship
    Available to Ohio residents majoring in selected programs who have earned articulated tech-prep credits in at least one pathway course. See application for a complete list of approved programs. Student must be enrolled in courses totaling at least six (6) credit hours per semester to qualify for this scholarship.

    NEW!  2018 Opportunity Scholarship
    The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to students who have little to no eligibility for any other type of financial aid or tuition assistance.  Applicants must have completed the 2018–2019 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork and have been determined ineligible for a Pell Grant. Students may not have any other third-party funding, scholarship or waivers. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State and be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per semester. If applicant has previous student loans that are in default, they must provide documentation from loaner servicer that they have entered into a loan rehab program; i.e., paying six months of regular payments to clear the default. Amount of scholarship award is based upon number of credit hours taken. For students enrolled in 6 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. For students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours—scholarship award is $1,000. Application is due by August 1, 2018. Click here for more information.

    NEW!  2018 Adult Learner Scholarship
    The Adult Learner Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to adult learners. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and must be employed at least part-time. Proof of employment must be provided. Current or returning students must have completed the 2018-2019 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. A 500-word essay on the following topic must be included with application: "How would furthering your education change your life and how would this scholarship help." Amount of scholarship award is based upon number of credit hours taken. For students enrolled in 1 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. For students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours—scholarship award is $1,000. Application is due by August 1, 2018. Click here for more information.

    NEW!  2018 Bookstore Scholarship
    The Bookstore Scholarship is a $250 award of Bookstore gift cards that a student can use to purchase textbooks, supplies or any item available in the Follett Bookstore on the Piqua campus. This scholarship will be awarded prior to the normal bookstore charging period at the beginning of each semester, which is typically two weeks prior to the start of the term. Student must be in good academic standing and registered for at least three (3) credit hours during Summer semester or six (6) credit hours during Fall and/or Spring semesters. Application is due by August 6, 2018 for the Fall term.     NEW!  2018 Summer Advantage Scholarship
    The Summer Advantage Scholarship provides a $250 or $500 scholarship to students enrolled in summer courses. Students must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. Scholarship may be applied toward tuition and fees only. Students receiving any Edison State tuition waivers are not eligible to apply. The amount of scholarship awarded is based on the number of credit hours enrolled in during the Summer term. Three (3) credit hour enrollment is eligible for a $250 award.     NEW!  2019 Shelby County Democrat Women Scholarship
    The Shelby County Democrat Woman provide a $500 scholarship to a student who is a graduate of a local Sidney and/or Shelby County school and has completed at least one (1) year at an accredited college. This grant will be awarded regardless of political affiliation.     NEW!  2019 Larry Studebaker Memorial | Miami Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship
    Applicant must be a Miami County resident pursuing an Agriculture or Natural Resources major. Applicant must be enrolled for the 2019 Fall semester. This scholarship will assist student with tuition and fees. Application must be postmarked by March 15, 2019.     NEW!  2019 Friends of the Piqua Public Library Scholarship
    This local organization is offering a $1,500 scholarship and a $500 scholarship. Applicants must be Piqua, Ohio residents who have chosen to further their post-secondary education by attending an accredited college/university, trade/vocational school or nursing/health facility. Students must complete the application and write an essay on a book that has impacted their life, and explain specifically, how it impacted their life. Application deadline is April 1, 2019.

    NEW!  2019 Darke County Foundation Scholarship
    The Darke County Foundation awarded 85 scholarships in the 2018–2019 academic year, totally nearly $160,000! Applicants must reside in Darke County and be home schooled or attend a Darke County high school. Students who are planning to attend a 4-year college, 2-year college or shorter vocational program are eligible to apply. Scholarships will be awarded based upon grade point average, ACT score, activities, financial need and essay (not necessarily in this order). Students can download an application at www.darkecountyfoundation.org or by contacting their high school guidance counselor. Application submission deadline is March 31, 2019.     Loman and Olive Shiverdecker Scholarship
    Application is available to a graduate of a Darke County high school and must be attending or planning to attend Edison State Community College. Completed applications should be mailed to or dropped off at The Elk's Lodge, 214 W. Third Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331. Applicants may phone 937.548.1139 for more information.

    NEW! Verification Addendum—IMPORTANT NOTICE  On January 9, 2019, the Department of Education issued a notice that we are now allowed to accept a signed copy of a student or parent IRS 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ. You may receive or have received requests for a tax transcript. For the time being we are able to accept a signed copy of the tax return in place of the transcript.

    IRS Tax Return Filers—An independent student or parent should try to obtain a tax transcript from the IRS. In lieu of obtaining an IRS transcript for students or parents who were unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, institutions may consider a signed paper copy of the 2016 IRS tax return that was used by the tax filer for submission to the IRS as acceptable documentation to verify FAFSA/ISIR tax return information.

    If the IRS Data Retrieval Tool is not used, students and parents are REQUIRED to get a 2016 Tax Return Transcript directly from the IRS if they filed 2016 taxes. Click here for information on how to obtain the Tax Return Transcript from the IRS.

    Dependent students who did not file taxes MUST check the appropriate box in the "DEPENDENT STUDENT NON-TAX FILERS: 2016 Income Information" section of the verification worksheet. If this section is not completed, the student must submit a signed and dated statement certifying that they did not work and did not file a 2016 tax return.

    Independent students and parents that did not file 2016 taxes must obtain the required Official Verification of Non-filing Letter from the IRS, dated on or after October 1, 2017, that indicates a 2016 IRS income tax return was not filed.

    NOTE  Official verification of non-filing can be obtained from the IRS by the same methods used to obtain a tax return transcript.
