COVID-19 Notice | 2020–2021 Academic Year
As we prepare for the upcoming academic year, the challenges and uncertainty for delivering course content remain in this COVID-19 environment. Edison State Community College intends to provide academic courses through a variety of formats, including hybrid, remote and online. Since unanticipated circumstances at any time could affect the ability to deliver course content in a particular manner, Edison State reserves the right to modify the delivery method for course content for the health and safety of students, faculty and staff. Irrespective of the delivery format Edison State’s competitive tuition and course fee structure shall remain the same for academic courses, consistent with published Edison State tuition and fee schedules. There will be no refund or reduction on tuition or course fees, since Edison State will be providing a full semester of instruction and awarding full academic credit to those who satisfactorily fulfill course requirements.

The Edison State Scholarship Application is your ticket to applying for any of the following campus-based scholarships. The 2019–2020 Edison State Scholarship Application period has now closed. The 2020–2021 Edison State Scholarship Application will be available November 1, 2019. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2020.
The following scholarships/grants are available with the submission of separate and unique applications. Please see directions associated with each scholarship/grant.
Choose Ohio First Tech-Prep ScholarshipAvailable to Ohio residents majoring in selected programs who have earned articulated tech-prep credits in at least one pathway course. See application for a complete list of approved programs. Student must be enrolled in courses totaling at least six (6) credit hours per semester to qualify for this scholarship.
NEW! Short-Term Certificate Grant ProgramThe Ohio Department of Higher Learning has awarded Edison State Community College a grant in the amount of $91,000 for approved short-term certificates (less than 30 credit hours) through the Short-Term Certificate Grant Program. This grant is designed to assist students who have financial need. This grant awards up to $1,000 to a student who is enrolled in—and has declared as a major—a qualifying short-term certificate program. To qualify, a student cannot receive Pell grant funding or FAFSA. Students must complete the application form and submit to Financial Aid for verification of eligibility. If approved, the award may be applied to classes within the short-term certificate program and may be used in multiple semesters until the amount has been exhausted. This grant may be used for tuition and lab fees but may not be used for books. The grant may be used in conjunction with the Finish For Your Future Grant, Choose Ohio First and/or apprenticeship grants.
NEW! Finish For Your Future Grant ProgramThe Ohio Department of Higher Learning has awarded Edison State Community College a grant in the amount of $50,000 for approved short-term certificates (less than 30 credit hours) under the Finish For Your Future Grant Program. This grant is designed to assist students 25 years of age or older who have financial need. This grant awards up to $1,000 to a student who is enrolled in—and declared as a major—a qualifying short-term certificate program. To qualify, a student cannot receive Pell grant funding or FAFSA. Students must complete the application form and submit to Financial Aid for verification of eligibility. If approved, the award may be applied to classes within the short-term certificate program and may be used in multiple semesters until the amount has been exhausted. This grant may be used for tuition and lab fees but may not be used for books. This grant may be used in conjunction with the Short-Term Certificate, Choose Ohio First and/or apprenticeship grants.
NEW! 2018 Opportunity ScholarshipThe Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to students who have little to no eligibility for any other type of financial aid or tuition assistance. Applicants must have completed the 2018–2019 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork and have been determined ineligible for a Pell Grant. Students may not have any other third-party funding, scholarship or waivers. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State and be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours per semester. If applicant has previous student loans that are in default, they must provide documentation from loaner servicer that they have entered into a loan rehab program; i.e., paying six months of regular payments to clear the default. Amount of scholarship award is based upon number of credit hours taken. For students enrolled in 6 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. NEW! 2018 Adult Learner ScholarshipThe Adult Learner Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to adult learners. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and must be employed at least part-time. Proof of employment must be provided. Current or returning students must have completed the 2018-2019 FAFSA and all financial aid paperwork. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPS and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. A 500-word essay on the following topic must be included with application: "How would furthering your education change your life and how would this scholarship help." Amount of scholarship award is based upon number of credit hours taken. For students enrolled in 1 to 8 credit hours—scholarship award is $500. NEW! 2018 Bookstore ScholarshipThe Bookstore Scholarship is a $250 award of Bookstore gift cards that a student can use to purchase textbooks, supplies or any item available in the Follett Bookstore on the Piqua campus. This scholarship will be awarded prior to the normal bookstore charging period at the beginning of each semester, which is typically two weeks prior to the start of the term. Student must be in good academic standing and registered for at least three (3) credit hours during Summer semester or six (6) credit hours during Fall and/or Spring semesters. NEW! 2018 Summer Advantage ScholarshipThe Summer Advantage Scholarship provides a $250 or $500 scholarship to students enrolled in summer courses. Students must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and must have completed at least 67% of all classes attempted at Edison State. Scholarship may be applied toward tuition and fees only. Students receiving any Edison State tuition waivers are not eligible to apply. The amount of scholarship awarded is based on the number of credit hours enrolled in during the Summer term. Three (3) credit hour enrollment is eligible for a $250 award. NEW! 2019 Shelby County Democrat Women ScholarshipThe Shelby County Democrat Woman provide a $500 scholarship to a student who is a graduate of a local Sidney and/or Shelby County school and has completed at least one (1) year at an accredited college. This grant will be awarded regardless of political affiliation.

NEW! 2019 Larry Studebaker Memorial | Miami Soil and Water Conservation District ScholarshipApplicant must be a Miami County resident pursuing an Agriculture or Natural Resources major. Applicant must be enrolled for the 2019 Fall semester. This scholarship will assist student with tuition and fees.

NEW! 2019 Friends of the Piqua Public Library ScholarshipThis local organization is offering a $1,500 scholarship and a $500 scholarship. Applicants must be Piqua, Ohio residents who have chosen to further their post-secondary education by attending an accredited college/university, trade/vocational school or nursing/health facility. Students must complete the application and write an essay on a book that has impacted their life, and explain specifically, how it impacted their life.
Application deadline is April 1, 2019.
NEW! 2019 Darke County Foundation ScholarshipThe Darke County Foundation awarded 85 scholarships in the 2018–2019 academic year, totally nearly $160,000! Applicants must reside in Darke County and be home schooled or attend a Darke County high school. Students who are planning to attend a 4-year college, 2-year college or shorter vocational program are eligible to apply. Scholarships will be awarded based upon grade point average, ACT score, activities, financial need and essay (not necessarily in this order). Students can download an
