    John F. Rickert, Jr.

Where do you live?  I was born in Greenville, Ohio and currently live in New Carlise, Ohio.

Do you have children and/or pets?  My wife and I have a black lab named Sasha.

In what branch did you serve?  I am still serving in the U.S. Army Reserve.

What rank/job title did you hold?  I hold the rank of Sergeant.

Where were you deployed?  I was deployed to Irag in 2008–2009, Afghanistan in 2012–2013 and Cuba in 2015–2016.

Why did you enlist?  There were multiple reasons, but primarily, I wanted to get some experience under my belt before transitioning into law enforcement.

How long were you enlisted?  I am still enlisted. My record currently reflects nineteen years of service.

What was the single most important thing that you learned from your time spent in the service?  In my humble opinion, Secretary of Defense, James Mattis said it best, "A leader's job is to win the hearts of those they lead and remember that it is the subordinates who actually accomplish every mission."

What is your proudest military and/or personal achievement?  Seven years of marriage—I have never done that before.

If you had an infinite amount of money to use for a good cause, what would it be?  Clearly, there are an infinite number of good charities that could benefit. However, if you spend time around the world, you quickly realize that there is more need than there are charities to meet these needs. What do you do?
