    Carl DeSantis

In what branch did you serve?  I served in the U.S. Army.

What rank/job title did you hold?  I held the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Where were you deployed?  I was deployed to South Vietnam.

How long were you enlisted?  I was enlisted for three years beginning in August, 1969.

What was the single most important thing that you learned from your time spent in the service?  The importance of the camaraderie—the interdependent trust of fellow soldiers.

What is your proudest military and/or personal achievement?  Facilitating communication among troops when night fire hit our fire base.

If you had an infinite amount of money to use for a good cause, what would it be?  I would direct it toward education for all citizens of all nations—resulting in productive skills and spiritual and physical well-being—in the hope that there would be fewer civil uprisings and ultimately—the avoidance of deadly combat.
