Kroger Awards Grant to Support Charger Station Food Pantries

The Edison Foundation received a $2,000 grant from The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation and the Cincinnati operating division on behalf of Edison State Community College. The funds will support the Charger Station food pantries. Edison State representatives visited the Piqua Kroger during its grand reopening event, during which Kroger representatives presented a check to college officials.

Student Noah Roy Receives Manufacturing Scholarship

The West Central Ohio Manufacturing Partnership recently selected Edison State Community College student Noah Roy, of Sidney, as a recipient of one of five $1,000 scholarships. Lew Modic, WCOMP Director, and Edison State Workforce Success Specialist Dr. Roger Fulk, who served as a member of the WCOMP Selection Committee, presented Roy with his award at the association’s May membership meeting held at Wright State University–Lake Campus.

Edison State Employee Elected President of Ohio Academic Advising Association

Edison State Community College Director of K-12 Partnerships Stacey Bean was elected President-Elect of the Ohio Academic Advising Association in 2024. During its annual conference on Friday, July 25, Bean assumed her role as President.

The Edison Foundation to Host BYOP Disc Golf Tournament

The Edison Foundation will host the third annual Bring-Your-Own-Partner (BYOP) Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 27, on the Duke Foundation Disc Golf Course at Edison State Community College’s Piqua Campus. Proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships at Edison State.

Volleyball Team Preps for Upcoming Season

Edison State Hosting Fall Leadership Development Series

The Edison State Community College Workforce Development & Work-Based Learning office will host a Leadership Development Series during the fall of 2025. Designed for new supervisors and leaders, these workshops provide thought-provoking and engaging techniques to develop positive leadership skills. Participants will learn to effectively supervise former peers, improve communication skills, and strengthen conflict resolution techniques.

7th Annual Drive for Scholarships a Success

The Edison Foundation at Edison State Community College enjoyed a great day of golf at the scenic Troy Country Club during its 7th Annual Drive for Scholarships event on July 25. The event welcomed 82 participating golfers, as well as volunteers and sponsors, and raised $8,639 for scholarships. This brings the total funds raised through the annual event to $94,973, equating to at least 94 $1,000 scholarships over the past seven years.

In today’s tight labor market, finding a qualified industrial maintenance technician can be difficult. Employers can turn to the Industrial Electrical Controls Fundamentals course offered by Edison State Community College’s Office of Workforce Development & Work-Based Learning. This training provides a powerful starting point in developing skilled maintenance technicians from within companies’ existing workforces.

Supporters recently came together at Edison State Community College’s Piqua Campus for the 15th annual Charger Athletics Reverse Raffle fundraiser to support Edison State Athletics.

Phlebotomy

The phlebotomy program at Edison State trains students to draw blood from patients for medical tests, transfusions, donations, or research. Graduates are skilled in venipuncture (inserting a needle into a vein), ensuring proper labeling and handling of specimens, and making patients feel comfortable during the procedure. Phlebotomists work in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood donation centers, and doctors’ offices, often a vital link between patients and laboratory analysis.
