Edison Stagelight Players to Hold Auditions for “A Masque of Mirth”

The Edison Stagelight Players will hold auditions for “A Masque of Mirth” on Monday, October 20, and Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. in the Robinson Theater at Edison State Community College’s Piqua Campus.

“A Masque of Mirth” is an Edison Stagelight Players production for The Edison Foundation’s Holidays at Edison State: A Madrigal Celebration. The Renaissance-themed events will be complete with audience participation, delicious food, music, and merriment.

The Edison Stagelight Players are seeking performers of all kinds, including singers, musicians, jugglers, flute/lute players, acrobats, and other performance artists, in addition to general performers. Auditions will also include these scripted roles:

• King Edmund of Edison
• Queen Katherine of Edison
• Lady Beatrice of Arden
• Sir Benedick
• Master Malvolio Quinceworth (Steward of the Hall)
• Will Kempster, called Merrywit (the Fool)
• Sir Orlando Quicktongue (Troubadour/Minstrel)
• Sir Toby Belch of Belgrave
• Dame Petronella Plumfair (Royal Taster)
• Lord Peregrine Montjoy (Master of Revels)
• Lady Rosaline Fairford (Mistress of the Wardrobe)
• Lord Silas Pembroke (Master of the Hunt)
• Lady Viola Hartwell (Lady-in-Waiting)
• Courtiers, peasants, and pages

The Edison Stagelight Players may consider those unable to attend auditions but interested in participating for openings for performers, musicians, or support crew. Opportunities for the production and creative team include directing, stage management, costuming, lighting, set design, props, advertising, and ushering.

Other important dates include:

• Acting Rehearsals: Tuesdays through Thursdays at 7 p.m. from October 23 to November 25 (with occasional Saturdays)
• Vocal Ensemble: Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning October 27. Additional sessions may be scheduled as needed.
• Dress Rehearsals: December 1-4 at 6 p.m.
• Performance Dates: December 5 at 6 p.m. and December 6 at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
