Edison State Community College Director of K-12 Partnerships Stacey Bean was elected President-Elect of the Ohio Academic Advising Association in 2024. During its annual conference on Friday, July 25, Bean assumed her role as President.

“I am very excited to transition into the President position of the OHAAA. Serving the last year as President-Elect was a great experience that allowed me to network and learn from individuals throughout the state of Ohio,” Bean said. “The OHAAA Executive Board is filled with members who want to create a collaborative environment that enriches our advising strategies while focusing on student success. I am excited to lead alongside these wonderful individuals who genuinely care for students and are committed to fostering meaningful impact and creating positive change across our organization.”

An Edison State employee for 20 years, Bean recently transitioned from her role as Coordinator of Transfer Pathways Advising to Director of K-12 Partnerships. She has extensive experience in higher education, advising, recruiting, College Credit Plus, and making strong connections with local secondary schools.

In addition to her role with OHAAA, she has served as a member on a number of boards and committees, including the Bowling Green State University Transfer Advisory Board; the Academic Advising Committee, Articulation and Transfer Committee, and Retention and Completion Committee at Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education; and the Upper Valley Career Center’s FAST Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Student Success Leadership Institute.

Bean has served as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Piqua High School since 2021 and previously coached softball at Valley Storm. She is a certified mental health first aider, serves on several Edison State committees, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from Bluffton University.

“Stacey’s election to OHAAA President while serving as our Coordinator of Transfer Pathways Advising reflects the leadership skills she’s developed throughout her career at Edison State, from admissions to advising to building K-12 partnerships,” said Edison State Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Jeannette Passmore. “Her active engagement in professional organizations has made her a versatile and knowledgeable professional and leader. Now her community college perspective will benefit advisors across Ohio. When our team members take on state-level leadership roles, it strengthens both their professional growth and our institution’s impact on student success.”
