Call for Entries for Art of Recovery 2026: Renewal

The Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services is accepting entries for its Annual Art of Recovery exhibition of paintings, drawings, photography, poetry, and music from the local mental health and recovery system in conjunction with National Recovery Month in September and the Tri-County Board's Annual Meeting in October.

The art will be displayed in two locations: the Anne Vaccaro and David Myers Gallery on Edison State Community College's Piqua Campus, from September 14 to September 26; and at the Tri-County Board's Administration & Training Center, 1280 N. County Road 25A, Troy, from September 30 through October 23.

The theme for Art of Recovery 2026 is "Renewal." The Art of Recovery webpage states, “Renewal is literally the process of ‘making new’—not merely a new start, but a chance for change. Nature has its seasons, and people need chances to remake themselves. Persons living with mental illness or addictions often feel like nothing can or will change. By focusing on renewal, we can find those opportunities to see the world in a new light, and remake our place in it.” 

Art does not need to reflect the theme to be included in the exhibition. The theme is offered as a creative prompt for those looking for inspiration.

The Tri-County Board invites artists who have been impacted personally, as a family member or friend, or anyone whose art reflects recovery from mental illness or addiction to submit. Artists display works ranging from painting and drawing to sculpture, mixed media, crafts, photography, and poetry. Artists typically reside in Darke, Miami, and Shelby counties, but the Tri-County Board also welcomes submissions from other counties.

To enter, use the online form at www.tcbmds.org/art. Artists may submit more than one piece, but each must have a separate entry form. Submit entries by Friday, September 11.

The Tri-County Board will contact artists with details about how, when, and where to bring the physical pieces.
