2025 Adjunct Banquet

Edison State Community College recognized 15 employees for instructing a combined total of 2,700 semester hours, or approximately 900 classes, in their careers at the College’s annual adjunct faculty recognition banquet on Wednesday, August 20.

Dr. Paul Heintz, Jr., Dean of Arts and Sciences, served as the event’s Master of Ceremonies. Edison State President Chris Spradlin provided a welcome and presented the honorees with gifts.

“This is always a great time for us to get together and celebrate our adjunct faculty,” Spradlin said. “I want to say how much I value you as teachers. Our mission is to help students complete their educational goals and realize their dreams, and you are the ones who accomplish that mission—the individual instructors who have the interactions with students. The institution would not exist without you as our teachers.”

He continued, “I know you get a lot out of teaching. I know when I was a teacher, it was so rewarding to me. It’s such a great thing to be able to talk about a subject you love and to have people there that you care about as well. You want to share that love of your discipline with them, and you want them to see some of the things that you enjoyed and saw in your discipline. That’s what it’s all about.”

“We cannot say enough in appreciation and thanks for the time and effort committed by our adjunct faculty,” added Dr. Heintz. “You understand the dedication it takes to be an adjunct faculty member. I have so much appreciation for all adjunct faculty.”

Adjunct faculty hours accrue by the number of credit hours in each class taught, which are typically worth three credit hours.
