The Social & Public Services pathway is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, are passionate about making a positive impact, and wish to pursue a career helping others feel safe and secure. This pathway will prepare you to work with diverse populations, equip you with the knowledge to handle real-life situations and teach you how to create safe environments for individuals, families, and communities.
Why pursue Social & Public Services at Edison State?
- Gain a Teaching License The Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the Ohio Department of Education and prepares individuals for the Ohio Pre-Kindergarten Associate Teacher License.
- Prepared for Employment 75% of criminal justice graduates attribute their employment to earning a degree from Edison State.
- Apprenticeship Edison State partners with the Troy Fire Department to offer a firefighter/paramedic apprenticeship. This allows students to gain college credit while earning an income.

Full-Time & Part-Time
Computer Forensics
Combines criminal justice with network and computer security in order to detect illegal activity and obtain evidence for prosecution of criminal acts.
Full-Time & Part-Time
Criminal Justice
Students will learn the complexities of the criminal justice system and become equipped to become law enforcement or corrections officers.

Early Childhood Education
Focus is on the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and creative development of young children in order to serve families in various settings.
Full-Time
Social Services
Prepares students for entry-level work helping professionals in social service agencies that deal with a variety of challenges, traumas, and dilemmas.

The Social & Public Services offers technical certificates that students the skills can obtain to increase their skills and advance in their career.
Edison State offers technical certificates within career program areas. Courses outlined in each certificate can lead to an Associate degree for the program sponsoring the certificate. Students generally receive certificates for the completion of 30-37 semester hours of coursework. A certificate can be completed in twelve months.
Short-Term Technical Certificates give students the skills needed to enter a new career field or to advance in their current role and can be completed in under a year.
