College Credit Plus (CCP) offers a unique opportunity for students to enhance and further their educational and career objectives while still in high school. CCP students can earn college and high school credit concurrently, accelerating their college careers at no cost. Credits are easily transferable to public and private universities nationwide. As college students, CCP participants learn a great deal about what's expected at the college level, easing their future transition to college life.
Edison State Community College is committed to providing learning opportunities and support services that enable students to meet their educational goals and realize their dreams. Students accepted into the college agree to uphold the Code of Conduct, Academic Policies and General College Policies as outined in the Student Handbook.
Students in grades 7–12 who attend school in the state of Ohio may be eligible to participate in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program to earn free or low-cost college credits. 2017–2018 Fall Big Dates2017–2018 Spring Big Dates
The number of high school credits that a student is eligible to take for college credit is determined by a formula established by the Ohio Department of Education. Students may be able to take up to 30 credits hours per academic year offered in a variety of formats. The formula used to determine credit hour eligibility factors in the number of non-CCP courses that the student is taking at their high school. Students may not exceed 120 credit hours over the course of their participation in the CCP program. Out of pocket expenses will apply for courses taken beyond state-provided funding.
Course registration occurs prior to fall, spring and summer semesters. A registration form must be completed and submitted for each semester of participation. It is the student's responsibility to meet with his/her guidance counselor, complete the registration form and submit the form to Edison State for each participating semester. Registration forms may be submitted to the high school guidance counselor, to the Student Affairs office at the Piqua or Darke County campus or by emailing to CCP@edisonohio.edu.
CCP Success Advisors are available to assist students with short-term and long-term planning to help support their academic goals. Advising services are available at both the Piqua and Darke County campuses by appointment. Please call the Piqua Campus at 937.778.8600 or the Darke County Campus at 937.548.5546 to schedule an appointment. In addition, WebAdvisor is a valuable online resource that CCP students can use to explore Edison State course offerings prior to meeting with their guidance counselor or CCP Success Advisor.
Students who are interested in taking online courses through Edison State will need to complete the XLN 100S Online Readiness Workshop. This workshop is designed to test preparedness for online learning and proficiency in using online learning tools. The workshop runs for one week and is completed online using the Blackboard web-based classroom. Students need to complete this workshop with a 70% or better to be eligible to enroll in online courses. Students are permitted two (2) attempts per semester to pass the Online Readiness Workshop. The fee for this workshop is waived for CCP students taking the course for the first time. Any future attempt(s) will cost $30 per workshop.
To register for the Online Readiness Workshop, students need to complete and submit the XLN Registration Form.
Success in online courses depends upon the ability to read and grasp course material independently of the face-to-face classroom setting, the ability to use the course delivery software effectively and the ability to utilize time management skills to meet class deadlines.
