Thom and Patricia Robinson present Edison State President Dr. Doreen Larson and Edison State Board Chairman Tom Milligan with a check for $2.5 million. |
Thom and Patricia Robinson of the Robinson Fund have graciously donated $2.5 million to support a 5,200 square-foot student career center and campus entry, aimed at the promotion and integration of students into a growing regional workforce.
“I feel that this project denotes a new phase in the growth and improvement of Edison State Community College,” said Edison State President Dr. Doreen Larson. “This project represents a focus of Edison State’s intentional outreach to the community and particularly our business partners.”
The new complex will serve as a catalyst for students by helping to bridge the gap in the employment process. The addition will include areas for career counseling and services, veteran’s counseling services, access to Ohio Means Jobs, interview rooms, and an information desk.
“Students passing through this entrance will be reminded that not only do they select careers at the beginning of their studies and look for jobs at the completion of their studies, but that they build their careers every single day,” added Dr. Larson. “This entrance will provide them with ongoing career building
opportunities for internships, work study experiences, and job interviews.”
Mr. and Mrs. Thom and Patricia Robinson of Troy continue to support communities throughout the region with their philanthropic efforts.
“It’s inspiring to know there are members of the community that recognize and value our work to the extent of such a significant gift. We thank you for the project itself but for the daily inspiration it will give to the entire Edison State team to know that our community backs our work,” added Larson. “On behalf of
the Edison State team, I thank you.”
“This is really a testament to the good work that the Edison State team does and just a continuation of this great generosity from the Robinsons, which is not just today but long lived,” said Edison State Chairman of the Board Tom Milligan. “They have been such great representatives for Edison State, for our communities, and
a real inspiration.”
The College is planning a groundbreaking ceremony later in 2017.
