IMT 112S Industrial Health & Safety
Overview of plant safety and industrial hygiene requirements and practices in American business from the perspective of on-the-job requirements for supervisors/employees. Federal and state occupational safety and health regulations are reviewed and techniques to improve the workplace are explained. Syllabus
IMT 114S Labor Relations
Overview of labor management relations in union environments. Following a review of the development of labor unions and labor legislation in the United States, the negotiation process is explained. Emphasis of the course is then directed toward a review of the basic provision of a labor contract. Syllabus
IMT 120S Operations Management I
First of two courses detailing what managers do about processes, and the tools that managers can use to make better operating decisions.  Includes operations strategy, process management, project management, and statistical process control.  Extensive use of operations management software and case studies.  Syllabus
IMT 130S   Quality Management Systems
Philosophy of total quality management. Focuses on improving process and reducing variation in systems. Covers the role of employees through empowerment in improving all aspects of manufacturing and service organizations to achieve quality improvement and customer satisfaction.

Second of two courses detailing what managers do about processes, and the tools that managers can use to make better operating decisions.  Includes capacity, location, and layout planning, supply-chain management, forecasting, inventory management, aggregate planning, resource planning, lean systems, and scheduling.  Extensive use of operations management software and case studies. IMT 242S Manufacturing Costs and Controls
Overview of manufacturing costs and controls for the non-accountant. After a review of accounting procedures and financial statements, elements of cost (material, labor, and overhead), budget planning, depreciation, and techniques for financial control are studied to make a more cost conscious job performance. IMT 244S Lean Systems
Examines the principles of Lean Manufacturing and is taught as a concise and coherent strategy for today's manufacturing leaders.  The importance of efficient manufacturing cannot be overemphasized in the global market where the traditional methods will result in a net loss of our competitiveness as a nation or region.  Lean philosophies are introduced in a very practical and intuitive style with plenty of examples from the instructor's research, text, and real-life examples. IMT 246S Six Sigma
An introduction to the tools and techniques of the Six Sigma philosophy of management that focuses on eliminating defects through practices that emphasize understanding, measuring, and improving processes. Syllabus
IMT 250L Industrial Operations Project
Capstone course for the Industrial Operations option of the Industrial Management program, involving a real-world industrial management experience, utilizing the knowledge and experience gained in previous industrial and manufacturing management courses.  Students will integrate all problem solving concepts learned in functional core courses.  Specifically they will learn to apply the use of budgeting, operations management, financial accounting, marketing, strategic analysis, forecasting, problem solving, decision making, human resource management, and reporting and public relations.  They will experience broad decision making processes, write reports, and give a culminating presentation.  Syllabus
