Resources
Overview of the human resource management field. Emphasis is
placed in the areas of staffing, training and developing human
potential, compensation, benefits, and performance management.
The legal framework for equal employment opportunity is
covered along with affirmative action. Human Resource
Information Services (HRIS) will be introduced.

In-depth study of recruitment strategies, legal and regulatory
factors, equal opportunity laws, selection process, career

HRM 212S Compensation and Benefits
Comprehensive study of the purpose, structure and
effectiveness of an organizational compensation system. Topics
include legal issues, job evaluation, pay structure and
benefits.

HRM 213S Employee Training and
Development
Comprehensive study of training and organizational
development. Adult learning theory and career management are
covered. Topics include need assessment, training methods,
training design and evaluation. Syllabus |
HRM 291L Internship Experience
Field experience that provides an opportunity for
students to mesh theory and practice through supervised work
experience in a human resource department. Experiences are
discussed and integrated with academic work in weekly
seminars. The student completes 14 hours of service at the
cooperating organization and attends a weekly one-hour seminar
on campus. Prerequisites: HRM 110S, CIT 232S, CIT 236S, CIT
236S and instructor permission; corequisite: HRM 291R.
