Edison Moving Toward Paperless Services
Please Note-WebAdvisor will be down June 4-8, 2007 for system upgrade.
Edison Students
will receive their grades
electronically, instead of the
traditional way of having them
mailed to them. "Students will be
required to have an e-mail address
upon registering for classes."
states Sandra Brubaker, Associate VP
for Student Development and
Enrollment Services. "If students do
not have one, staff will assist them
with creating one at that time.
Then a password and user name will then
be issued to the students, which
will allow them to electronically
access WebAdvisor, where they
can view their grades, register for
classes, and utilize a multitude of
support services at their
convenience."
Brubaker added that this doesn't
mean that students need to have a
computer at home in order to attend
college. "We have plenty of
computers in the learning lab,
library, internet cafe and various
labs where students can access
information or complete
assignments."
Edison
is just one of many colleges in the
region who are moving toward
utilizing technology to improve
service and access to students.

Blackboard Usernames and Passwords
Blackboard is course management software that students use to access information for their particular online, web-flex, and web-enhanced courses. When a student is enrolled in Blackboard, their username and password give the student access to all courses they are enrolled in that use Blackboard. The students need to get their username and password for Blackboard from their instructor. Instructors are provided with a list of usernames and passwords for their students at the beginning of the semester. The usernames and passwords may or may not match the username and password in the WebAdvisor system.
Through data integration, students are enrolled in courses automatically.
Please allow at a minimum 48 hours for enrollment changes in the Datatel system
to migrate to Blackboard.
Blackboard/WebAdvisor
Currently, you will also need to verify your correct information in the
Blackboard system. When you log into your course area, select “Personal
Information” on the student tool bar, and then “Edit Personal Information”.
Please verify that your current e-mail address is listed in Blackboard. The
goal for the future semesters is to change the information in Datatel/WebAdvisor
and it will be changed in the Blackboard system. For now, you will need to
update and verify your e-mail address in both systems.
