Betty Baltes-Spring
Betty Baltes-Spring is a Certified
Medical Assistant who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from
Wright State University. Employment at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus,
Ohio, introduced her to the healthcare industry. She worked in the Education
Department and as their Volunteer Coordinator. Next, she moved into the health
insurance industry. After 9 years of employment, this company downsized. Dr.
Raymond E. Barker, Cardiology and Internal Medicine, was her salvation from this
unemployment situation. She started working in an administrative capacity but
the clinical side intrigued her. She completed the Medical Assistant Diploma
program at Columbus ParaProfessional Institute and passed the Medical Assistant
Certification Examination. When Dr. Barker retired, she became a full time
Medical Assistant Instructor at Ohio Institute of Healthcare Careers and worked
as their Medical Assistant Placement Coordinator. Primary caregiver
responsibilities for a family member brought her from the city of Columbus back
home to the farm. Many kindnesses and generous acts by these home town people
motivated her to seek an avenue to repay them. She found the medium to do this
to be through the students she instructs in Medical Terminology, MED 120 and MED
220 at Edison Community College. |

My name is
Judi Boyd, and as a former Edison student it is great fun to be
back. I began my career at Amos Press, where I worked in the
Advertising Department for Linn's Stamp News. I then moved to Dayton
to take a position with the Kettering-Oakwood Times and completed my
bachelor's degree at Wright State. I later moved to take a position
in sales with a graphic arts company before returning to the area to start
my own desktop publishing business in 1990.
