Graduates of the program will receive an Associate of Applied
Science Degree. The graduates who pass the NCLEX* exam hold
licensure to practice as Registered Nurses or RNs. Registered nurses
work with people of all ages to promote health and healing. They
provide direct care by assessment, planning, intervention and
evaluation of health needs for people with physical, or emotional
problems. RNs manage care environments and serve in leadership
roles.
*NOTE: The Ohio Board of Nursing has specific requirements regarding
criminal conviction, which must be met before being approved to take
the NCLEX. Students accepted to the program agree to a criminal
record check upon admission.
Career opportunities are available in a variety of settings,
including hospitals, extended care facilities, doctor and dentist
offices, schools, home health care, industrial plants, outpatient
clinics, public health, hospice and community agencies. The Greater
Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA) web site (www.gdaha.org)
provides hospital web sites for you to visit and find nursing
opportunities available in the area. At the GDAHA home page click on
"Member Hospitals."
