Registration
Registration for credit
classes is conducted prior to each semester according to the Academic Calendar.
Registration is open to previously enrolled students who are academically eligible to
return, currently enrolled students, newly admitted students, and transient students. (View Academic Calendar)
Each student planning to obtain a degree or certificate at Edison or planning to do so at
another institution shall be assigned an advisor. Students not planning to pursue a degree
or certificate are encouraged to make an appointment with a "new student
advisor" in the Advising Resource Center or at the Darke County Center. Appointments
can be made through the faculty support office (for assigned advisors) or the Student
Development Office (for Advising Resource Center advisors).
Academic Advisement
You are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor prior to registration each
semester. Advisors are available to assist students in the long and short term planning of
their academic programs. Further information on academic advisement is available in the
college catalog.
Full-Time and Part-Time Students
Full-time students are those registered for twelve or more semester hours in a
15-week semester, or six or more semester hours for a summer term. Part-time students are
those registered for eleven or fewer semester hours in a 15-week semester, or five or
fewer hours for a summer term. Even though financial aid students must register for 12 or
more semester hours during any term to be considered full-time and receive a full-time
award, part-time students may still receive a part-time award.
Consortium: Cross Registration
It is possible to take a class at another institution that is a member of the
Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) under the following conditions:
* The course is not being offered at Edison during the current term.
* The participant must be a full-time student, including the hours taken at the other
school.
* The participant must be taking more hours at Edison than at the other
school.
* The participant must meet all prerequisites of the host school, abide by that school's
deadlines, and be accepted by that school as a student.
* Interested students should check with the Enrollment Services Office for times of
registration and forms. The signatures of an advisor and the Registrar are required.
Day/Evening Classes and Summer Term
Schedules are published prior to each academic term. An effort is made to provide
evening students with the same educational opportunities for completing degree studies as
day students.
College credit courses are offered day and evening during the summer term. Persons
intending to enroll in summer classes are urged to register early, as instructors are
retained only for those classes in which enrollment is likely to exceed the minimum.
Residency
Edison Community College follows the Ohio Board of Regents Rule 3333-1-10 for
determining a student's residency status. Students may obtain a copy of this rule from the
Admissions Office. Specific exceptions and circumstances may require a review of each
student's residency classification on an individual basis.
Senior Citizens
Senior citizens (age 60 and over) who are Ohio residents may enroll on a
space-available basis for non-credit or credit courses taken on an audit basis. (General
fees, lab fees where applicable, and the first-time application fee will be assessed.)
Regular tuition and fees are to be paid if the courses are taken for credit. The
registration period for tuition waiver is limited to the week before the semester begins.
