PROGRAMS
& DEGREES
University Transfer Programs
Edison's Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS)
degrees allow you to complete the first two years of study for nearly any baccalaureate
major and to transfer to a four-year institution. Typically, you then specialize in a
major during your junior and senior years at the transfer institution.
If you intend to transfer you should identify your transfer institution and program as
soon as possible. It is strongly recommended that you consult with advisors and faculty at
both Edison and the transfer institution to assure maximum transfer.
If you are undecided about a major your advisor will help you plan a general program that
meets the basic lower division requirements at most colleges and universities. Completion
of the state Transfer Module is highly recommended.
Edison students have transferred very successfully to colleges across the nation,
including nearly all public colleges in Ohio. With careful planning you will be able to
transfer to virtually into any program and the college of your choice.
Transfer programs at Edison offer many benefits, including significantly lower costs
compared to four-year colleges and a high quality, personalized learning atmosphere geared
to ensure your academic success.
Career Education Programs
Occupational and technical programs at Edison prepare you for a
career in business, engineering, health or public service. These programs also serve you
if you are seeking formal training toward advancement in your current employment.
Edison's career education programs have been developed to provide you with the job skills
area employers are seeking. Many business, industrial and organizational leaders from the
region serve on academic advisory committees to help guide the creation, development and
ongoing revision of these programs.
Career education programs are designed to prepare you for employment directly upon
graduation. While not designed for transfer, many career education programs can be
transferred, however credits accepte d will vary according
to the program and the policies of the receiving institution.
To transfer in one of these programs, you should work very closely with your advisor and
an advisor at the receiving institution. It is possible that not all credits will transfer
and that you may need to take additional general education courses.
Associate of Arts (AA) Degree - 60 semester hours
The Associate of Arts (AA) degree is one of two University Transfer
programs offered at Edison. The AA allows a student to complete the first two years of
study for nearly any baccalaureate (bachelor's) major in the social sciences, humanities
and arts. The AA curriculum parallels the traditional university liberal arts degree. It
provides an excellent academic background and prepares the student to select a major in
the junior year. The AA degree also serves those students seeking two years of general
education with emphasis in the arts, social sciences or humanities.
Students following a transfer curriculum are strongly encouraged to plan their courses
with the assistance of a faculty advisor and with respect to the specific program
requirements at the transfer institution. Efficient transfer requires careful planning.
Changing programs or transfer institutions may complicate the transfer process or
necessitate the taking of additional courses.
Associate of Science (AS) Degree - 60 semester hours
The Associate of Science degree parallels the first two years of a
Bachelor of Science program. It can help prepare students for many different careers in
physical science, natural science, business or mathematics. Depending on electives chosen,
the AS program leads to four-year programs in such fields as biology, business, chemistry,
physics, engineering, computer and information science, mathematics, pre-medicine,
nursing, physical therapy, electronics, accounting, and many similar majors.
