Helps to Expand Learning Center Services

The
Learning Center is a valuable resource to help Edison students
succeed. This past summer Ann Miller and Truman Bashore teamed up to
take this source of information a step further. Their goal was to promote the
Learning Center as not only a place for students to receive help on campus, but
online as well.
The Learning
Center Web site features:
-
The
hours of operation and a tutor schedule
-
Contact
information and photos of the Learning Center Staff
-
The
Quick Tips topics include:
Helpful hints for students
Note Taking Tips
Taking Examinations
Hints for Objective and Essay Exams
-
Algebra
and Writing tutorials.
The
new online component of the Learning Center is composed of two parts. An online discussion
site serves as a Frequently Asked Questions area on the Web site.
Students can post questions and receive answers from the Learning Center
staff. The "Ask a Tutor" request form enables a
student to connect directly with a tutor for help through an e-mail
request.
The Learning
Center Web site has received over 2,600 visitors in just a few
months. More and more students are moving into the online
environment for all or part of their learning experience. Truman Bashore
and the Learning Center staff are ready to help meet their needs.
