E.T.C.
Serves Student Learning Initiatives
The Edison
Technology Committee will soon begin its third year of serving the
Edison community. An outgrowth and refinement of the Teaching, Learning,
and Technology Roundtable, the E.T.C. is a collaborative arena for
monitoring technology trends and adapting the best of the available technology
tools to
student learning needs. Committee members come from virtually every area
of the College and share the common goal of improving the learning
experience for Edison's student stakeholders.
Over the
past two years the committee has also assisted administrators in acquiring
significant new grant funding for technology initiatives. As an example,
the E.T.C. assisted committee members Dr. Sharon Robinson and Mary
Beth Aust-Keefer in preparing and implementing the Regional Learning
Network grant. The grant funded significant new additions to the Edison
technology infrastructure that make possible live video-conferencing as
well as the creation and transmission of recorded streaming media
presentations.
Within the
past year faculty member proposals have led to the creation of Edison's
new Wireless Zone, an e-Document strategy, and the I.T.S. information
sharing initiative. Committee members look forward to having new
initiatives brought forth, debated, and recommended for adoption during the
committee's third year of deliberation.
Committee
meeting dates and times are published on the Edison I.T.S. Web site and
in the Customer Service Update. Interested members of the Edison
community are welcome to attend.
