Edison I.T.S. Launches Information Sharing Initiative

Edison's Office of Information Technology Services today launched its information sharing initiative with members of the Edison faculty. The initiative is designed to keep the Edison community informed of issues revolving around information technologies, and the use of these technologies in teaching and learning.

In addition to frequent updates on technology delivered via the Edison Web site and through e-mail messages to the college community, Edison I.T.S. staff members will sponsor information technology sharing sessions on a regular, recurring basis. The hope is that the ongoing flow of information will generate both enthusiasm and support for technology-based learning initiatives.

Today's sharing session featured the view of an evolving I.T. presence which will become increasingly responsive and consultative in its approach to serving community members' needs for technology support. "The role of the I.T.S. organization at Edison today," asserts Dennis Myers, "is not about delivering technology. It's about delivering technology-based solutions. That role means consulting, collaborating, training, leading, and, most of all, it means serving your needs. It's all about you."
