Academic Advising

Questions about your major?
Not sure what classes to take?
Thinking about a co-op or internship?

Current students can turn to either their faculty advisor or the advisors in the Advising Resource Center.
  1. Your faculty advisor is an expert in your chosen major field of study. Your faculty advisor will connect you with opportunities to excel through internships and other career builders. He or she will keep you on track to graduate.
  2. ARC (Advising Resource Center) advisors are faculty members who meet with current students who don't have an assigned faculty advisor, or who have a general question regarding registration, scheduling, completing their degree requirements, and more. They are available by appointment in Student Services, Room 160.

You should meet with your faculty advisor each semester to:
  • Confirm that you are pursuing the right academic major to set you on your desired career path.
  • Identify the courses you'll need to accomplish your academic goals.
  • Review your individualized learning plan, tailored to your lifestyle and work schedule.

Not sure who your faculty advisor is?

Your faculty advisor's name appears on the top of your registration statement, just to the right of your name. It's also available in the "My Profile" section of WebAdvisor.

If you don't have a designated faculty advisor, please submit a Declaration or Change of Major Form to Registration and Records at the Piqua or Greenville campuses.

Other Kinds of Advising—Admissions, Financial, and Career

Students may work with other advisors at different points in their academic career, depending on their needs. In addition to academic advisors, Edison provides:

  • Admissions advisors help you choose a major, register for classes, and navigate your first semester at Edison. They will help you develop your individualized learning plan, and recommend classes that you should take early on, in order to be prepared down the road.
  • Career advisors help you identify your strengths and interests and match them to careers you might enjoy; they have resources to help you learn about different careers, including job outlook, salary, and education requirements. They can also assist you with finding a job, including resume, interview, and job search skills. If you're not sure what degree or career you want to pursue, schedule an appointment with a career advisor by calling 937-778-7850.
  • Financial aid advisors help you understand the financial aid process and how it applies to you and your specific situation. To schedule an appointment with a financial aid advisor call 937-778-7910.
