User ID (name) and Password for NEW STUDENTS

All students will be provided with an “edisonohio.edu” email account and data storage area.  The edisonohio.edu email address will be the ONLY email address for ALL official college communication.  In addition, the student will have a User ID (name) and password to access the Edison Network, E-mail, Blackboard, and WebAdvisor.

If you have never taken a class before at Edison you will receive your Student ID at the time of registration. To locate your User ID (name) you need to access WebAdvisor, the colleges Registration system:  (
https://webadvisor3.edisonohio.edu:8443/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor). To get started, click on the Prospective Student picture or Account Information link. DO NOT attempt to login as a Current Student. You are considered a “guest” until you complete the account activation process.  In the User Account section click on the link, “What’s my User ID?”.

In order to retrieve your User ID (name) enter the requested information; Last Name plus Social Security Number or Student ID Number. Click on the Submit button and your User ID will appear on the screen. Write this down as you will need this to finish setting up your account.

When your network account is created, it is created with a one-time user default password. The password is composed of the last four digits of your Student ID number plus the first four characters of your Last Name. The first letter of the last name is Capitalized. For example, if your Student ID is 0278957 and your last name is Green your default password will be: 8957Gree. For students whose last names are less then four characters the CAPITAL letter “A” will be added to the end of their name until enough letters are added to satisfy the four-character requirement (i.e. 1234CoxA). Passwords are case-sensitive; UPPER, lower or MiXeD.

Every student will be required to enroll at the Password Management site before they can access the Edison network, email, Blackboard, and WebAdvisor. The username and password assigned to you provides access to all of these applications. To enroll, log on to the Internet and enter the following URL in your address bar: https://edisonhelpdell.edisonohio.edu. Click on the Enroll into SSRPM link.

Enter your User ID (name) and default password, ensure “edison” is listed as the Domain Name, click the checkbox to agree to the terms of service, and click Continue.

Please enter TWO security questions and answers. Click on Enroll.

You will receive a Congratulations screen that you have successfully enrolled. Click close.

For security purposes, you MUST reset your default password IMMEDIATELY. To change your password, click on the Reset your password link.

Enter your Username and the domain (edison). Click the continue button.

Enter the answers to your two security questions, enter the new password, confirm the new password, and click Reset Password.

You will receive a congratulations screen stating you have successfully reset your password. You are ready to log in to the Edison network, access your e-mail, log in to Blackboard, and log in to WebAdvisor.

Note: Your User ID (name) will remain the same throughout your time at Edison. Your password will expire every 90 days and will have to be reset using the Password Management web site. In addition, you can use this tool to reset your own password if you forget it. You will need to know your TWO security question answers. You are limited to 3 attempts to answer your security questions when resetting your password or you will be locked out of the network. If this occurs you have to call (937-778-8600 or 800-922-3722 ext. 711) or stop at the Help Desk to have your account unlocked. The Help Desk is located in the Library. The hours or operation are:

In addition, the student will have a User ID (name) and password to access the Edison Network, E-mail, Blackboard, and WebAdvisor. All students enrolled in classes Summer and Fall (unless you were enrolled in summer classes) Semester 2008 will need to follow the instructions for New Students.

Online Help

For more information about getting started in your online class, and as a way to become familiar with Blackboard, Edison has created a course called “Getting Started at Edison.” If you do not yet have your personal username and password, or your password is not working, you may still access the “Getting Started at Edison” course area. Guest access is available to this course area only by using the following login:

username: blackboard password: online

After successfully logging into Blackboard you will access the course by selecting the link in the “My Courses” module. You will see the course listed under the title “Courses in which you are enrolled”. Click on the underlined link to access the Getting Started Course site.

Inside the Getting Started course, you will find several areas to help you get started in your online course.

  • Online Course Information

Note: English courses at Edison use an application called ConnectWeb (with the exception of Technical Writing courses, which use Blackboard). There are a few English instructors that use both systems so it is best to check with your instructor. A link is available on the Edison Homepage to ConnectWeb. Once you access the link click on the dropdown menu to locate your course and follow the directions for logging in the first time.

Tips for Online Students:

It is your responsibility to access your online course site no later than Wednesday of the FIRST WEEK of classes. Failure to check in within the first week of class may put you seriously behind.

If you contact your instructor before the start of classes and do not receive a response right away, the course may not be available. If you do not hear from your instructor by Wednesday of the first week of classes, please contact the Faculty Support Office in Room 302 on the Piqua Campus by e-mailing facultysupport@edisonohio.edu.

Payment for online classes follows the same published due dates as traditional classes. Payment for classes is the responsibility of the student, regardless of whether you attend or participate. If you should decide to withdraw from an online class (perhaps the format is not suited to your learning style), you MUST follow the same withdrawal process as with traditional college classes. You must complete a registration/schedule change/drop form at Enrollment Services or the Darke County Campus. In addition, you may withdraw from your course by using WebAdvisor or phoning Enrollment Services at 937-778-8600 or toll-free 1-800-922-3722 (ext. 7829). It is your responsibility to complete the process and be aware of the deadlines for refunds. Your instructor will not drop you from the class if you fail to attend.

The Edison Bookstore will arrange to ship books on request. Call the Bookstore at 937-778-7970 or toll-free 800-922-3722 ext. 7970. In addition, you can visit the Edison Bookstore online. To access the site, open your browser and enter the URL for Edison Community College (http://www.edisonohio.edu). In the Quicklinks dropdown menu, in the Services section, select Edison Bookstore.

Students in more than one Blackboard course — no matter how many classes you have in Blackboard you will use the same account information to login to Blackboard and access all of your courses.
