Electronics Engineering
Industrial Systems Option

The Industrial Systems program prepares students for the installation and troubleshooting of industrial controls and mechanical systems as they relate to industrial machinery.  Emphasis is on electronics, electrical controls, programmable logic controllers, hydraulics and pneumatics, manufacturing processes, machine reliability, industrial safety, mechanical systems and system troubleshooting.  Students will integrate electronics and electrical controls with mechanical systems, develop troubleshooting methods and explore various possibilities in the process of solving real-world industrial systems problems.

Graduates of this program can function as industrial controls technicians, automation technicians, maintenance systems technicians, PLC programmers, robotics technicians, and applications engineers.  A person must have a comprehensive understanding of electronics, electrical controls, hydraulics and pneumatics, manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and industrial safety to work at this level in business and industry.

Program Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate familiarity with electrical and electronic components and circuits.

  2. Demonstrate familiarity with mechanical systems as applied to industrial machinery.

  3. Demonstrate familiarity with computers, computer applications and networking.

  4. Demonstrate systems thinking skills as applied in an industrial setting.

  5. Demonstrate problem solving skills and troubleshooting techniques in industrial applications.

  6. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills.

  7. Demonstrate application of accepted industry safety practices.

  8. Apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
