Admission to the
Early Childhood Development Program
Requirements
All students who have been
admitted to the college, taken the COMPASS
and have enrolled in early childhood
development courses are considered Pre-ECD students until they have
satisfactorily completed the requirements for formal admission to the
ECD program.
To be formally admitted to the ECD program, students
must:

Have successfully completed ENG 121S.

Have successfully completed SPE 121S.
-
Have proven math competency at the
MTH 097S level.

Have successfully completed 15 credit
hours with at least 9 credit hours in ECD.

Maintain a 2.0 grade point average in
all academic coursework, and pass all ECD
classes and PSY 225S with at least a "C".

Have completed an entrance interview
with the ECD Coordinator.

Have provided the ECD Coordinator
with:

3 completed recommendation forms, from any former employers or teachers, from persons who have known the student at least 5 years, possibly
neighbors or a minister, from persons who can attest to student's personal and moral
character

Current certificates in First
Aid, communicable disease, child abuse and CPR training.
All
recommendations must be from persons who are NOT related to the
student.
- A signed Edison Community College ECD Statement Form that he/she
has never been convicted of child abuse or crimes of violence.
- A completed Edison Community College ECD Medical Statement form
signed by a licensed-physician. The medical statement
must include the results of a Mantoux Skin Test
- A copy of high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalency.
- A completed ECD Information Form
All
necessary forms can be obtained by contacting the Early Childhood Development Department.
