 Minutes

  1. Minutes of last meeting were discussed and approved.

  2. Darlene reviewed the handouts distributed last week and gave an overview of what has already been accomplished and what still needs to be addressed as outlined in the consultant’s report.

  3. The team was asked to write down comments relating to identified weight room issues.

    Hours of service

Comments:  identify specific hours and days of service, week-end hours?, address athletic and PE activities, student activities and events

    Staffing

    Maintenance

Comments:  Who is responsible, what is required, cost

    Replacement

Comments:  Budget?, meeting the needs of all users

    Future

  1. The team agreed that the weight room would start out as a Level 1 facility; therefore, the facility would be unsupervised.

  2. The hours for the use of the facility would be 8am-8pm, Mon-Fri.  A sign would be posted indicating when the room will be closed for use by athletes, PE classes, or other special events.  This sign could be changed as needed.

  3. Instructions for use of the equipment needs to be posted.

  4. The door to the weight room needs to be locked.  It was suggested that anyone wanting to use the facility would go to Student Development (020) and sign a log, then the person would be “buzzed” into the room.  The door already has this capability, but would need to be wired to operate in 020.  A camera would also need to be installed so that staff could see who needed to be allowed in.

  5. A phone needs to be installed in the room.  This phone should be an emergency line only and go directly to the information desk.

  6. Current equipment needs to be inspected and any faulty parts replaced or taken out of service.

Assignments to be completed before Aug. 23rd :

    • Bill Meyer and Sandy Brubaker will investigate cost and install camera
    • Darlene Francis and Sandy Brubaker will work on log for sign in at SD desk.
    • Sandy Brubaker will work with IT for installation of a phone.
    • Michelle Hertz will work with Nancy Shuler to get information on the EdLine and will also prepare handout for orientation of new students.
    • Darlene Francis will prepare signage that needs to posted
    • Bill Meyer and Darlene Francis will begin inspection of equipment and initiate appropriate actions.
