MINUTES OF MEETING
Tuesday, November 20, 2001
1:00 – 2:15 p.m.
Members present: Pam Gibellino, Chip Hare, Anna Hudelson, Ray Lepore, Dawn Stinson, and Jane Salisbury, facilitator.
Members absent: Jane Kretschmann and Ronnie Mayo.
Anna Hudelson volunteered to serve as Team Leader for the purpose of recording minutes of meetings.
Members present identified this team charge:
“Develop process for identifying and cultivating students who are potential candidates for local, state, and national recognition.”
Members set a time line for development of process and parameters as May 2002, so that implementation could begin Fall 2002.
A number of issues were raised, including:

How do we identify key students?

How do we identify key staff to mentor these students?

How do we secure participation on the part of students/staff?

What processes are in place now?
-
How do we secure the data we need?
-
Should this be part of the orientation process?
-
How do we identify community service opportunities for both students and staff?
How do we identify available scholarship and recognition opportunities?
It was decided that committee members should contact professional colleagues at area colleges to determine what processes and procedures might be used at other institutions. Jane Salisbury asked that members share any information obtained through e-mail with other committee members between now and the date of the next meeting.
Members also reviewed a document drafted by Jane Kretschmann, Pat Klopfenstein, Cathy Essinger, and Sharon Robinson at a brainstorming session for Developing and Honoring Outstanding Students. Committee members were asked to review this document closely for discussion at the next meeting.
The next meeting will be held Friday, December 14, at 9 a.m. in the Board Room.
