MINUTES OF MEETING
Friday, February 22, 2002
1-2 p.m.
Members present: Pam Gibellino, Chip Hare, Anna Hudelson, Jane Kretschmann, Ronnie Mayo, and Jane Salisbury, facilitator. Members absent: Ray Lepore, Dawn Stinson.
The following committee members shared suggested text for the potential brochure:
-
Chip Hare - Edison Ambassadors. He also reported that Thursday would be a reception/dinner for potential Thomas Alva Edison scholarship winners.
-
Jane Kretschmann - Phi Theta Kappa and the All USA/All Ohio Team.
-
Pam Gibellino - scholarship searches.
-
Jane Salisbury - training in communications. She also reported that we might be able to develop and offer a Zenger-Miller adaptation for students.
-
Anna Hudelson - portfolio development.
Several items were discussed concerning the development of the brochure.
- Developing a Website link
- Specific location/phone number references for the brochure
- Development of a prototype of the brochure for committee review
Pam Gibellino will take the lead in preparing a draft of the brochure for review at the next meeting. She will develop two options and will include the phrase: "At Edison Community College, student success is our priority. We encourage academic excellence as well as opportunities for personal development." Jane Salisbury will invite Ann Miller to attend the next meeting to discuss requirements for developing a website link for the brochure.
Ron Mayo shared and explained a proposal for the Darke County Campus prepared by a committee composed of DCC administration, faculty, a recent graduate, and a current student. The DCC committee has asked whether there should be separate activities for DCC or attempts to include DCC students in the activities at the Piqua campus. The DCC committee would like to see as many activities take place at DCC as possible to develop interest among those students. Ron Mayo will table further committee work until a decision is reached regarding the issue of separate campuses. Jane Salisbury will talk with Dr. Yowell regarding this issue. Ron Mayo did cite the upcoming Phi Theta Kappa induction at DCC as a good step toward including those DCC students in campus events and recognition. CQI committee members expressed appreciation to Ron Mayo for his extensive work thus far.
Members then shared possible criteria for student recognition. With each suggested criteria, it became more and more evident that we have many questions to answer before reaching a recommended list. The committee will continue to discuss this issue at the next meeting.
The next meeting will be held Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. in the Board Room.
