Summary of Sept 20 meeting
The team proposes the following
recommendations:
1) That especially for online courses an
end-of-course survey is very important.
2) In the interests of standardizing the
online course experience for both students and instructors, new
online courses should be constructed in Blackboard; existing online
courses undergoing extensive revisions should be shifted to
Blackboard unless there is a documentable reason to do otherwise.
Suggestions for syllabi of online courses
include:
1) Specific expectations and timelines
2) Attendance policy (what does it mean to be
"here")
3) A PDF downloadable, printable version
should be available
4) Screens should be self-contained (not
scrolling) whenever possible
5) Any specific software requirements for the
course
6) Syllabus should be available to student
before registration for online course
7) Evaluation methods and academic honesty
should specifically pertain to online format
8) Communication parameters should be in Part
II
