Administrator - Minutes |
January 24, 2002
Members Present: Sherri Clark (Team Leader), Sharon Brown, Cathy Barrow, Bill Meyer, Charles Steel
Absent: Steve Sykes (excused), Phyllis Meiring, Jim Gariety
Purpose: To identify and examine the attendant issues surrounding evening coverage and support, including supervision, emergencies, safety/security, etc.
Discussion on the need of an evening administrator were focused on:
*Student intercession - wanting to speak to ‘supervisor’; upset w/ instructor etc. (Advisors are usually available until 8pm most evenings)
*Faculty logistics needs – AV equip; copier availability (IT person is on call each evening, make people aware of how/who to contact)
*Addressing emergency issues – These have been outlined in the Emergency Response Plan
*Contacting students for emergencies – Security delivers these messages at the present time; need to make people aware of this procedure
*Partnership issues – Where is it?; who is contact? (Sharon will contact Chris S. to get a handle on this)
*Building problems – Contact maintenance; Call the switchboard and maintenance can be paged.
Discussion:
Would it be possible to have a designated person on call each evening? Rotating people. Would this be a solution as an evening admin?
Do we need to advertise the information desk as the source for all of these questions/concerns?
Plan:
Asking departments (learning center, faculty support, childcare center, IT, Information desk, Enrollment Services, financial aid, business office, bookstore, maintenance, library) to supply their emergency contact people by January 31, 2002.
Put signs up throughout the college promoting Info desk as designated place to go for solutions.
Sherri and Cathy will compile the information into a ‘booklet’ to be reviewed at our next meeting of Feb 19th at 3pm
