CQI Steering Committee
Minutes
April 17, 2009
Those Present:
Diane Arnold, Tom Looker, Janice Michael, Iden Smith, Steve Whiteman, Peggy
Wiggins, Dr. Yowell, Dr. Salisbury
Those Absent:
Cindy Carbone
The meeting was called to
order by President Yowell. The agenda was accepted without change and the
minutes of November 14, 2008 were accepted as distributed.
Performance Teams:
·
Student Security Team:
Dr. Salisbury referred to the email sent to all college
employees asking for clarification on the need for full social security
numbers of students and staff. Datatel pages are currently being modified
to reflect only the last four numbers of the social security number in most
instances. Liz Schoonover is researching grant options for support of the
CQI Team recommendation for a digital imaging system.
·
Student Worker Team:
A request was made for re-structuring the non-faculty hiring and transfer
policy to include HR Department exit interviews with dismissed student
workers. It was decided that HR did not need to be involved in this
process.
·
Student Complaint Team:
This team will be called together to address the perception of limited
“availability of channels for expressing student complaints.” It appears
this is more of a communication issue than an availability issue, but the
team will discuss possible ways of improving the perception.
·
Purchasing Team:
A continuing problem with “payment enclosed” will be reviewed by this team.
·
Room Scheduling Team:
David Gansz requested this team be called back to review its process with
special concerns of the IT Department and the meeting of AV needs.
AQIP:
·
Reports summarizing each team’s progress were submitted to the CQI Steering
Committee by team Leaders, Maggie Myers, Mona Walters, and Patti Ross.
CQIN:
·
The 2008 CQIN Team has organized and presented four leadership development
modules: What is Leadership?, Leadership Styles, Leading Change, and
Examining and Understanding Different Perspectives. Eighty-eight people
have participated. Additional modules will be offered beginning fall
semester.
·
The 2009 CQIN Team will travel to Dearborn, Michigan in Late July for
CQIN Summer Institute. This year’s topic is “How to Increase
Innovation in Challenging Economic Times. Team members will be Carol
Rigola, Becky Telford, Jane Salisbury, and President Yowell. A project
related to our increasing reporting needs is being considered.
Other:
President Yowell described
some organizational changes of the CQI Steering Committee that will become
effective in the fall. The changes are designed to make the committee more
of a working committee and will include in its membership representatives
from all AQIP, CQIN, and active CQI process teams.
