Scott Epstein called the meetings at 11:12 AM.

Scott led an explanatory discussion about AQIP, the Trailblazer Award and the NCA application process for alternative evaluation. Handout were provided.

Jane Salisbury reported several performance improvement teams were at some stage of work: development of departmental brochures, on-line technical support, ITS customer service, B & I registration, purchasing, and registration concerning course exceptions.

A new team was requested by the committee. It will address the academic Deficiency notification process. Selected members were: Maggie Myers, Nancy Cooper, Jim Funkhouser, Truman Bashore, Cathy Barrow, Beth Culbertson, Becky Pepiot, and a DCC rep to be determined by Janice Michael. These people will be contacted by President Yowell.

Jane Salisbury brought up three issues for the committee to discuss:

What latitude is there in making changes to teams established by the steering committee; what to do when a team leader does not follow through; and how to address personal agendas coming into the performance team meetings.

In response to number one: Prior to a team’s first meeting, Jane has the authority to make changes in team structure if it is reasonable. After the first meeting, a team may elect to add a person if all stakeholders are not represented. If a team member is a problem to the team’s functioning, the steering committee will discuss the matter. In response to number two: Jane will clarify difficulty with leader. If cannot be corrected will be brought to steering committee.

In response to number three: Goals need to be identified clearly and micro-managing should be monitored.

The following names were mentioned as potential staff for facilitator training:

Becky Telford, Patti Ross, Jean Shaneyfelt, Fred Verceles. These individuals will be contacted by Jane Salisbury to determine their interest in working with Scott and Jane.
