Minutes
9-24-2007
Members Present:
Harry Lawhorn, Nathan Walters, Carol Parete, Patti Ross, Brad Reed, Carol
Marion, Bill Baker, Facilitator Jane Salisbury
Members Absent:
Jane Kretschmann, Tim Sanderson
Visitors:
Sharon Brown, Dan Reke
Actions:
- Jane Salisbury
called the meeting to order, introducing new members Nathan Walters and
Bill Baker.
- Members Tim
Sanderson and Carol Marion will no longer serve on the team because of
changing work assignments and/or schedule conflicts.
- Guests Sharon
Brown and Dan Reke were welcomed.
Discussion:
- Dr. Salisbury
opened the meeting for discussion by saying that the upgrade/deployment
process was not working and the academic side of the house wanted to
work with IT to address issues that are negatively impacting the
process.
- Comments made
included:
- the academic side is rendered
ineffective because labs are not done on time
- instructors are not happy and
do not wish to have another deployment experience like this past
fall
- fall deployments are more
complicated because of multiple lab changes; spring labs seem to
work more smoothly
- being short of personnel and
new personnel contributed to last fall’s deployment issues; last
spring went pretty well
- faculty seem to be meeting
timelines for the most part; timelines do not seem to be met by IT
- images were not available for
faculty to review as scheduled
- IT efforts seem to be last
minute and communications are poor.
- Some faculty did not get the
lab deployment sheets in on time
- Clarifications
made:
- Nathan Walters understood the
deployment timeline dates were “end dates” and work is to be
completed by that date.
- Patti Ross asked that deans
be notified when faculty/dean timelines are not met.
- The use of the Lab Deployment
Check List was discussed and Nathan Walters will add to that list an
Item 10, Lab Documentation.
- The Lab Deployment Check List
can be utilized via email to be certain IT and academics are aware
of deployment progress.
- Jane Salisbury will add to
the CQI Process a Lab Documentation step hoping to maintain a record
of specifics related to lab set up and deployment for reference,
especially when there is a change in personnel.
- Jane Salisbury will update
the Lab Deployment process and have it posted to the CQI Process
Manual.
- Next meeting
will be called around April 1, 2008 by Jane Salisbury.
