April 11, 2003
On April 11, 2003, the Distance Learning/Academic
Quality team met in the Board Room.
Attending were: Brad Reed, Denny Myers, Mary Beth Aust-Keefer,
Sharon Brown, Ken Knapke. Guest Iden Smith also attended.
Iden provided an overview of the AQIP team's activities related to
improving the success rate for students in distance learning classes. The
AQIP team has been meeting frequently and gathering and analyzing data to
measure effectiveness.
The AQIP team is seeking to improve successes over a three-year period. To
reduce duplication of effort, consensus was reached with the DL/AQ team to
recommend to the CQI Steering Committee that the Distance
Learning/Academic Quality Team adopt a posture that addresses academic
quality of distance learning over the long term. We propose that we
convene perhaps just once per year, preferably in September, to review and
comment on measurements and implementations effected under the AQIP team's
accreditation mandate. The AQIP team may call on members of the Distance
Learning team as necessary and appropriate for input or support. The AQIP
team will report summary data analysis to the Distance Learning team as
appropriate to our shared goals.
