Minutes:
10-05-04
Members
present: Kristi Wildermuth, Chris Sargent, Jack Kramer, Jane
Salisbury
Members
excused: Michelle Hertz, Kathleen O’Brien
Discussion:
- The meeting
was called to order and minutes of the November, 17, 2003, meeting
reviewed.
- Discussion
regarding the current process and any needed changes reflected
things seem to be going well. One concern expressed by Chris
Sargent was as follows: When there is more than one large event on
campus at any given time, we may have a parking problem. For
example, the upcoming voting with Edison being the site for two
precincts and a concurrent open-house for potential PSEOP students.
It was determined this team would not address parking issues.
- It was
suggested that staff and faculty be reminded of the planning process
for external events because some people do not follow the process.
Even though events generally are successful, the potential is there
for difficulties and the breeding of ill feelings when requested
deadlines are not met. Dr. Salisbury will speak specifically with
Michelle Hertz and Kathleen O’Brien to be certain they understand
the current practice since they are frequently coordinating such
events. Likewise, the CQI Process manual to be provided all faculty
and staff offices will hopefully reduce instances of “not knowing.”
(Currently all process are on the CQI Web page, but not generally
distributed after their initial acceptance by the CQI Steering
Committee).
- The process
being followed for the planning of the upcoming economic summit was
discussed. It was determined that since the Foundation and Business
and Industry are sponsoring that event, and they are managing their
own marketing, etc., it was not of concern to the team. It was
suggested that Terri Jacomet be brought onto the team, however, to
be certain communication be maintained among all college
constituencies. Dr. Salisbury will offer that invitation.
- Dr.
Salisbury will forward to all team members the final draft of the
current process for external event planning in the format used for
the CQI Process manual. Members will review the draft and make
recommendation/clarifications as to presentation. No changes will
be made in the process.
- The next
meeting will be scheduled for February of 2005. An item of business
will be the selection of a new team leader since Beth Culbertson has
retired.
