AQIP 5
Minutes/ September 8, 2003
Present: Bill Waxman, Chip
Hare, Jane Salisbury
Absent:
President Yowell, Patti Ross, Pat Klopfenstein
- Meeting was
called to order by Jane Salisbury.
- There were no
additions or changes to the minutes as distributed.
- Jane Salisbury
led discussion of the Leadership at Edison Community College draft
document. Bill Waxman and Chip Hare indicated their approval of the
document as written, mentioning specifically they liked the action words
and word usage that supported personal responsibility for exemplifying
the various characteristics.
- Patti Ross and
Pat Klopfenstein requested that under the category of TPOV, sentence
two, not begin with and. And was deleted even though it
was grammatically correct and continued the thought mentioned in
sentence one.
- Under Elements
of Pedagogy: Pat Klopfenstein asked that andragogy be deleted
and the word therefore replace that means. No changes
were made to this item. Andragogy is the terms used to describe adult
learning that is activity-based. Coined by Malcolm Knowles in the
1980’s, it is the basis for much of what is considered current adult
learning theory. The group felt that means was stronger than
therefore and further promoted ownership of characteristic
leadership behaviors.
- Under Listen
Skills: In the last sentence, words beyond the second comma were
deleted. The final sentence ends with disagreement as suggested
by Pat Klopfenstein.
- Under Group
Process/Facilitation: No changes were made because the current language,
“This will require my using…” again personalized the requirement.
- Under
Accountability and Assessment: the was added before college in
line one, and postulates was replaced with promotes as the
suggestion of Pat Klopfenstein.
9. The final document will be
sent to all team members. If it is satisfactory,
President Yowell will
determine if and when it should be forwarded to Sandy
Brubaker and Phil Lootens
for their use in curriculum design for Servant
Leadership/Working by
Values.
10. The status of the
orientation modules was discussed, along with the need to re- survey staff
on communication issues during early second semester.
