Criterion 5:
Leading and Communicating
Minutes - April 17, 2003
Those present: President Yowell,
Pat Klopfenstein, Patti Ross, Bill Waxman, Chip Hare, Jane Salisbury
1. President Yowell called the meeting to order and asked Pat Klopfenstein
to share her thoughts on the assignment for the day. She passed, at that
time.
2. Patti Ross shared three items she believes will be necessary to see in
place before an altered organizational format can be effective. They
included:
a. Definite
coordination of the entire process, including budgeted resource support.
That will include dollars and personnel.
b. An expanded Executive Council.
c. Servant Leadership training more in-depth and expanded.
3. Chip Hare and Jane
Salisbury presented a diagram representing their perspective of the type
organizational model the team supported, and how it exemplified the
principles of seven different organizational management/educational
theories. They included: Maslow, Bloom, Herzberg, Greenleaf, Senge, Tichy,
and McGregor.
4. Considerable discussion ensued. Ultimately, the group seemed to accept
the prototype presented, with the understanding that further individual
study might result in continued discussion and modification.
5. President Yowell asked that each team member consider the components
necessary for each of the circles and the logistics of implementing the
model, considering the current Edison initiatives
6. Jane Salisbury will schedule another meeting after graduation. Team
members will be notified of time, place, and duration.
