Criterion 4: Valuing People
April 7, 2006

Those present:  Sean Ford, Kate Zhao, Rebecca Schinaman, Jane Salisbury
Those absent:
  Don Evans, Tom Looker, Darlene Francis
Guests:
  President Yowell

Discussion:

  • The Valuing People survey results were discussed.  Those areas having the most comments were communication-related, especially dealing with recognition from supervisors. 
     
  • Other areas having several comments dealt with fairness, opportunity for input, respect, and pay equity.
     
  • Dr. Salisbury had prepared a scatter diagram of responses and it reflected areas of concern that aligned with our Employee Working Core Values.  In the minds of some, it appears we are not all “living those values.”
     
  • Possible suggestions for programs or activities to enhance the sense of valuing Edison faculty and staff were bantered about.
     
  • A follow-up meeting will be scheduled within two weeks to continue discussion.  A fall implementation of SOMETHING is needed if we are to stay on schedule with our Action Project timelines.
