Criterion 4: Valuing People
Minutes
3 March 2003

MEMBERS PRESENT: Terri Jacomet, Diane Arnold, Phil Lootens, Keith Kamerer, Eileen Thompson, and Michael Fleishman

A new meeting time and date was set for Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Terri briefly discussed the presentation of the committee’s work to the Steering Committee
A discussion was held on the email that will be distributed to all employees. Suggestions for the memo included:

o Thanking respondents for their participation in the survey;

o Include the summary graph;

o Include a short explanation of the responses;

o Decision to address the recognition category, rather than one of the four employee classifications (Classified, Administrative, Adjunct Faculty, Full-Time Faculty)

o Signed from the entire Valuing People Committee

o Terri will draft the memo for the committee editing and approval before a desired distribution date of Friday, 7 March. This will preface a solicitation of suggestions for addressing the recognition area.

Committee will go to the college staff to ask for their ideas on how to improve recognition. Mike Fleishman and Eileen Thompson will ask to be put on the Academic Senate agenda for their March meeting; Adjuncts will be approached via email/mailbox/coordinator for their input; Classified employees will be asked by their supervisors; Phil Lootens and Terri Jacomet will ask Extended Deans Council to approach their individual departments for their ideas.

Due to Spring Break, there will be no meeting the week of 10 March. The next meeting will be held in Room 413 on 13 March 2003 from 1-2 p.m.
