MINUTES
NOVEMBER 30, 2004
MEMBERS PRESENT: Truman Bashore,
Becky Telford, Matha Schleinitz, Ruth Barney, Maggie Myers, and Iden
Smith.
The minutes of the November 2
meeting were approved as submitted.
The Team continued to work on a
revised evaluation of instruction form.
The Team is leaning toward a scale
that has below expectations, meets expectation, and exceeds expectations
as ratings with possibly a scale between them.
The Team edited the items
developed at the previous meeting. The goal is to decrease the number of
items, focus on the most important ideas, and to eliminate items that
overlap.
With the revisions made during the
meeting, the items for the form are the following:
Communication:
- Was Timely
- Was Clear
- Was respectful
Instructional Methods:
- Student is given responsibility
for his or her own learning.
- Instructor uses a variety of
activities to help students learn.
- Relates material to the real
world (gives realistic examples)
Content:
- Syllabus and assignments were
clear.
- Content indicated on the
syllabus was completed.
- The course content was
organized to help me learn and basic concepts built to more advanced
learning.
Faculty:
- Knowledgeable
- Enthusiastic
- Prepared
- Provides constructive feedback,
both positive and negative.
Critical Thinking:
- Instructor provides problems to
solve
- Assignments, questions, and
tests are challenging
Tests and Evaluations:
- Instructor communicates when
tests and assignments will be returned and follows through on time.
- Uses a variety of evaluation
methods, tests, papers, etc.
- Gave an appropriate number of
tests
- Tests cover material identified
in the course objectives.
- Writing assignments were
required in the course.
Open-Ended Questions:
- What could be done to make the
course better?
- How would you rate your overall
experience in this course?

At the next meeting the Team will
continue to work on wording of the items for the Evaluation of Instruction
form.
