Criterion 1: Helping
Students Learn
MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 17, 2002
MEMBERS
PRESENT: Becky Telford, Matha Schleinitz, Ruth Barney, Maggie Myers,
Ann Miller, and Iden Smith
It was reported
that the team’s project had been submitted to AQIP without any changes.
The chair will provide to committee members the document as it appears in
the AQIP database.
The team reviewed
the survey that was used during the last summer to assess online courses.
For the purposes of the AQIP team, there needs to be an item directly
asking if students were satisfied with the course. Ann Miller is on the
CQI committee that worked on the summer survey. She will bring this up
when the survey is reviewed.
The team’s project
for this year included Blackboard training which Ann and Cecelia have
already done. It also included surveys of student satisfaction, success
rates in on-line and Web flex courses, and surveying unsuccessful
students. The success rates cannot be determined until after the semester
ends. The next project to work on is the survey of unsuccessful students.
Once this is completed, the team may not need to meet so often for the
remainder of the semester.
The form of the
survey of unsuccessful students was discussed along with possible items to
include. The chair will draft a survey document based on these discussions
so the team can work on it at the next meeting.
