Minutes 9-25-01
Those present: Truman Bashore, Nancy Cooper, Beth Culbertson, Becky Pepiot, Cathy Barrow, Jim Funkhouser
Those absent: Janice Michael, Maggie Myers
1. Meeting was called to order at 3:30 in room 178-1.
2. Agenda issue for day was the final discussion of the draft prepared by Jim
Funkhouser, outlining the three-point recommendation of the team for the use of academic alerts. Reference was made to the e-mail forwarded by Jane Salisbury from Maggie Myers, reflecting a concern of the SEM committee about the proposed
recommendations. After considerable discussion, it was decided the proposal, as designed, would be made to the steering committee. It was the consensus of those serving on both committees there had been a misinterpretation of intent by the SEM body. The proposal will go to the CQI Steering Committee in October.
3. Questions were raised about the use of Web Advisor for such things as
academic alerts. This was discussed with particular interest in expediency,
confidentiality, and cost effectiveness. If possible, it could also provide a venue for the easy tracking of documentable data.
4. Jim Funkhouser will present the team report to the CQI Steering Committee in October. If accepted, no further meetings of this team are anticipated until
Datatel/Web Advisor capabilities would merit discussion of electronic, academic-related communications.
