April 16, 2001
Those attending: Nancy Cooper, Jim Funkhouser, Truman Bashore, Janice Michael, Jane Salisbury.
1. Meeting was called to order by Jane Salisbury. Minutes accepted.
2. Truman Bashore presented the materials that had been prepared by himself
and Becky Pepiot using fall academic alert forms. More questions were raised regarding the interpretation of the information. These included:
a. when did these interventions occur
b. why are 83.3% of the faculty not using these alerts
c. where is the instructor in this process
d. if and how does this process promote college values
e. how does absenteeism fit into this process and its success
f. can we find an old Procedures Manual
g. should we be considering only 15-week classes
3. Jim Funkhouser will draft a team position statement on the continued use of
the academic alert, as it is now designed. The team will meet again to discuss and finalize its thoughts and position.
