Meeting Minutes

February 15, 2008

Present: Ann Miller, Sandy Brubaker, Shirley Moore, Iden Smith and Jane Salisbury-CQI Process Leader.

Absent: Steve Whiteman

Review of Dr. Sevier’s Report:

Steve Whiteman was unable to attend the meeting, but sent along his response to Dr. Sevier’s report:

  • Pages need to be: “simple yet effective”

  • Encourage others to provide information to update web site in a timely fashion

  • Rotating photos similar to those on the employee web site

As a group comments were made about the web sites visited, ease of use as well as challenges. Iden Smith liked the ability to click on course descriptions on the Sinclair site, and to be able to go into the college’s administrative computing system and to register for classes.

A decision was made to survey college’s in the area of similar size to Edison about their web site processes as well as information about their web design team. Sandy Brubaker will look at her list of college contacts and will ask Jack Kramer to do the same to develop a list of people to be surveyed. Ann Miller will look at other college web sites to track down contact information posted online.

A preliminary list of questions to be delivered via Zoomerang:

  7. What is the budget for the web site?

  8. Is the web site under the control of the ITS department or the marketing department?

  9. Do they use any type of web analytics on the site—if yes, which programs?

  10. Do they purchase keywords or do any sort of paid marketing of their web site such as Google Ad Words?

  11. What services can students access online?

Ann Miller and Sandy Brubaker will meet to fine-tune the questions and the results will be distributed to the team before being entering the questions into Zoomerang for deployment.
