Absent: Maggie Myers, Terri Jacomet, Gwen Stevenson
- The team
charge was reviewed: to determine common threads of how targets are
established; to determine a general process for setting targets
(i.e. parameters, not rules). Examples of the how some current
targets have been set were reviewed using Dashboard data:

Enrollment Retention, and Completion Targets Cohort data was
used

Employee Satisfaction target was for people to agree with the
statements, which was assigned a numerical value of 1
- Course
Retention target was determined by using an overall average of
success (85%) in all classes

Financials target is to spend less than is taken in
- The
following process for setting targets was brainstormed:

Identify target needs
2.
Complete research to support the rationale of
the target utilizing appropriate sources:
a.
Industry standards
b.
Cohort data
c.
Internal data
d.
Local demographics
e.
Competition analysis
f.
Selected historical data
g.
Possibilities of collaboration with other
entities
3.
Complete a comparison analysis (where we
are now/what is in place now vs. where we want to be/what we want to be
in place) *This step may be interchangeable with step 4
4.
Prepare a cost analysis, if appropriate
*This step may be interchangeable with step 3
5.
Set an appropriate target
6.
Reevaluate the target within a given timeframe

Assignments:
- Dr.
Salisbury will take the above process and create a
Plan-Do-Check-Study-Act Graphic where the above ideas are
represented
- Members
will brainstorm additions to the process listed above and place
ideas on post-it notes
- Members
will come to the next meeting prepared to share comments and
notes
- Dr.
Salisbury will transfer graphic and comments into Visio
- A
person from outside the group will be asked to test the
process so that final improvements may be made
