Becky Lawhorn, Jane Salisbury
Those absent:

Actions:
- Dr.
Salisbury explained the rationale for the commissioning of this
team, its basic charge, and the intended timeline.
- A focused
charge was agreed upon:
Define and deploy a multi-faceted
complaint process that includes aggregating, analyzing, and responding
to student and stakeholder complaints.
- Lisa Hall
was selected as Team Leader.
- An expected
timeline of four meetings spanning one semester with recommendations
being made to the CQI Steering Committee at their spring semester
meeting is anticipated.
Concerns
expressed:
-
What defines
a complaint, especially when related to non-classroom concerns?
-
Can the
current faculty/classroom model be used as a model for
non-classroom-related issues?
-
How are
complaints considered when they are actually in conflict with
established rules, such as the dates for issuing financial aid
checks?
-
What will
the mechanics of handling complaints be—similar to appealing the
current parking infractions?
-
Who
or what committee or office will ultimately be responsible for
aggregating/analyzing complaint data and then responding to
complainants?
Next steps:
-
Jeannette Ranly will bring copies of the form
currently used to appeal parking tickets.
-
Copies of the Student Handbook and the College
Catalog will be reviewed at the next meeting.
-
The next meeting will focus on process mapping
the complaint process used by the academic side of the house and
considering its potential for other complaint issues.
Next Meeting:
TBA during the week of January 8.
