Actions:

This was the organizational meeting of this team and Becki Lawhorn was selected as team leader.

A focused charge was determined: Investigate and recommend a process for determining social security number needs, access, and protection throughout the college.

Timeline: Task to be completed by December, 2007

Discussion:

Question: How is this team different from the team led by Dan Reke?

This team differs from the team led by Dan Reke in that Dan’s team is addressing legal compliance related to student records and student identification issues.

This team is defining processes for maintaining that compliance.

Question: How does this dovetail into the Gansz initiative of college-wide student identification cards?

The college-wide student identification card initiative is “on hold” because of the cost.

This team will try to define processes that will facilitate better information security until a college-wide, electronic system can be implemented.

Question: What is happening with the current security team led by Dan Reke?

That team is about to launch a survey they have designed to determine the college-wide need for student information, such as social security numbers.

He CQI team will utilize that survey information in determining its recommendations to the CQI Steering Committee.
