CQI- Orientation Team
Present: Sandy Brubaker, Cathy Essinger, Becki Murray, Patti
Ross, Dr. Jane Salisbury, Mona Walters, Helen Willcox
Absent: Keith Kamerer, Pat Klopfenstein
The focus of today’s meeting was to review and revise the draft
paragraphs for each module. Dr. Salisbury identified two additional
issues to be addressed –the assigning of a mentor and the need to
identify one specific person who would be responsible for supervising
the orientation program.
After much discussion, it was decided that assigning a mentor was too
formal for our purposes and could cause contractual conflicts. It was
agreed that in lieu of a formal mentor, a liaison would be designated
to assist the new employee day-to-day work needs. The new employee’s
supervisor will identify a liaison and request that they be available
to provide support for the new employee. The supervisor will report
the name of the liaison to personnel.
It was also decided that someone in the HR office should be
responsible for supervising the orientation program. Becky Woltz was
identified as being the probable candidate for this responsibility.
Dr. Salisbury will ask Keith to verify this and to provide the updated
checklist.
Our next meeting will be in early January. Date and time to be
announced.
