Purpose:
To review pre-hiring administration, monitoring of employment, and
payment-related issues regarding student workers.

Ø
Dr. Salisbury explained the general rules of
the team and Linda volunteered to be the team leader.
Ø
Linda explained that the process and
accountability for Non-Federal work study needs to be evaluated.
Ø
A previous CQI team dealt with the process
once a student worker was hired which included orientation, America
Reads, and a handbook. Currently Natalie distributes the handbook at
the time the student worker completes paperwork for HR and Kathi has
taken over America Reads. However, to assure that Edison is meeting
compliance regulations, the team decided to review the previous CQI
process along with the time sheet process. Therefore, the team will
broaden the process to include when a student is hired through when a
student leaves Edison.

As the team discussed the many aspects of the
process, it was decided that Kathleen O’Brien should be asked to join
the team since she is involved with matching student worker positions
with career goals.
Ø
As the team works through the process,
accountability will be defined for all involved.
Ø
The team will also look at including a
training orientation for new and current supervisors who work with
student workers.
Ø
Dr. Salisbury will meet with Linda to
determine the next meeting date. Team members were asked to bring
copies of any documents related to the current process to the next
meeting.
